Black Swan
A 28-year-old childlike ballerina heavily controlled and protected by her mother loses touch with reality under the pressure of winning the duel roles of the white swan and black swan in Swan Lake. Tormented by her instructor under the guise of his "brilliancy", a new dancer who threatens her place, and an eating disorder, Nina eventually succumbs to the darkness of the black swan, losing her mind in the process.
She takes Beth’s lipstick because it’s pretty and pink like the grapefruit.
She begins to hallucinate and see herself everywhere.
Obsessively practices to the brink of injuries.
Nina playing the role of the black swan perfectly but falling as the white swan signifies she has fully embraced the qualities of a dark being.
Following her last act, Nina’s final words were: ”I felt it. I felt perfect. I was perfect.”
