Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend?

Worlds collided when I heard Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend playing in the introduction of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, because I knew it sounded familiar. I instantly thought of Mindy from Emily in Paris singing her heart out during a performance. It is just another example of how monumental Marilyn Monroe actually is. When I thought Mindy was just singing a song about diamonds, she was singing a song about Marilyn’s famous character Lorelei Lee’s favorite thing in the world- diamonds! I have always found diamonds to be very beautiful but cliche. They are offered as engagement rings and are shiny, but I normally opt to wear gold-colored jewelry. But after watching Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and Lorelei parade around in diamonds, I suddenly wanted to trade in my gold for diamonds! And I was deeply happy when I noticed Marilyn wearing a very similar diamond bracelet that I own- except mine is made of Swarovski crystals.

But how did Lorelei really not know a tiara goes on top of your head? It is “ever so” confusing..
