Roses
When Covid hit, I was about to graduate college May 2020. Like everything else, a job I had lined up fell through, and my husband was already working back in Maryland. Suffice to say, I had a few months of free time to discover what my passions are before I accepted a job offer. I began to draw, mimicking photos I would find in Google of flowers or fashion sketches. I found that I was no savant, just somewhat talented at drawing, but I really enjoyed it. I also used a lot of oil pastels to draw flowers. Over a year later, I bought an iPad and began experimenting with Procreate so I could try digital drawing. Here are a couple of my favorite sketches, of a rose.
I remember discovering Roses by Saint Jhn and was obsessed. I would listen to it on repeat as I would draw my rose, which I completed in July 2020.
This is my favorite rose, and I completed it in November 2021. During this period I was listening to a lot of 80s-inspired music that was coming out, including Do Ya Like x Resonance mashup.
Here is my little Procreate rose. I remember feeling frustrated with it because it wasn’t turning out so great. Looking at it now I think it’s beautiful, despite needing a couple touch-ups. Procreate also takes time getting used to. I was listening to quite a bit of The Weeknd and Travis Scott at this time, and I completed it in December 2021.
